- Red imported fire ant colonies will have anywhere from 80,000-250,000 workers in the colony.
- Multi-queen colonies will have fewer workers than a single queen colony.
- Queens may produce approximately 1,500 eggs a day!
- Queens will live anywhere from 2-6 years.
- 6-8 swarms occur each year and typically contain 4,500 swarmers.
- Fire ants got their name from the fiery pain their stings inflict on the victim.
